Kalya O'Donoghue is a Brooklyn-based ceramicist. She graduated with a BFA from RISD's Industrial Design program. Kalya worked professionally as a furniture and lighting designer before founding Kalya OD Studio. She formulates her own textural glazes and integrates steel chainlink into the ceramic pieces giving them a heavy yet delicate feeling. Kalya draws inspiration from the movement of the ocean surf and the textures of tide pools.
We recommend using raku pieces on their own as decorative objects or for holding dried florals. It is not recommended to store liquids in these pieces as the clay will absorb liquid.
